Blogchatter A2Z: Robbery

The Gupta family was out on a family dinner as it was Mr. and Mrs. Sharma's anniversary. Before leaving home, Mrs. Gupta asked her kids, Neena and Chikki, to check the locks of every window and door, as there had been many cases of robbery in their neighborhood lately.

They drove to Mr. Gupta's favorite family restaurant, Spice & Chutney, 10 km from their house. Neena and Chikki booked a table and cake in the name of Mr. Gupta in advance so that they would not be required to wait as the restaurant used to have long waiting hours. They wished to make it the best experience for their parents.

Before the receptionist could ask them to wait, Neena interfered and told her about the booking in Mr. Gupta's name. Mr. and Mrs. Gupta looked at each other in surprise and then at their kids lovingly. Mrs. Sharma pulled Neena and Chikki's cheeks and adored them for their quick action. She told Mr. Gupta, "See, our daughters have grown up."

Neena and Chikki blushed. The receptionist guided the Gupta family to their booked table. They took their seats. The waiter served water and adjusted plates and cutlery for four people. After half an hour, they decided their order, and the waiter noted the items to serve and left. Before serving the food, the waiter brought a chocolate cake with Maa Papa carved and a Happy Anniversary tag.

Mr. and Mrs. Gupta blushed and looked at their daughters. Mr. Gupta was shy and told there was no need for cake. He said, "Ye koi umar hai humari cake shake kaatne ki." Neena and Chikki laughed. They told their parents to take the knife and cut the cake. As they cut the cake, Neena and Chikki sang the anniversary rhyme. It was a picture-perfect moment for the Gupta family.

Mrs. Gupta served the cake to everyone. The waiter arrived with the snacks and beverages they ordered. The table was full, but their tummy growled because of emptiness. They laughed together as the waiter helped them, serving the food on their plates. Noodles, chilly paneer, french fries, and crispy corn looked tempting, and Chikki could not wait for the waiter to serve. She extended her hand to grab some French fries without noticing a glass of Mojito between her hand and the French fries. And you know what happened after that. Mojito spilled on the table.

Chikki felt embarrassed and kept saying sorry for spilling the drink. Mr. and Mrs. Gupta did not wish to ruin the family time, so they did not scold her. Mrs. Gupta consoled Chikki and told her to calm down. It was fine. She should not cry and focus on eating her favorite items. After finishing the snacks, the waiter served the main course. The family ate in silence.

After dinner, kids ask for ice cream at their favorite spot. They enjoyed the evening without knowing what awaited when they would return home. Mr. Gupta agreed to take them for ice cream and told them after that, they would go home. Neena and Chikki cheered. They went to the ice cream parlor, and everybody chose their favorite flavor.

Dinner and ice cream over. Now was the time to return home. Neena and Chikki already tired and slept in the car while driving home. As they reached home, Mrs. Gupta noticed the front door was open. It shook her, and she brought Mr. Gupta's attention to that. He stopped the car on the road instead of parking it in the garage and ran towards the door. Mrs. Gupta tried to wake Neena and Chikki to take them inside and locked the car.

When Mrs. Gupta was near the door, she noticed a broken door lock. She called Mr. Gupta, telling him something was fishy. The burglars broke into their house. Mrs. Gupta laid the kids in their room and closed the main door with a latch. Mr. and Mrs. Gupta went to their bedroom and found their wardrobe open. As they checked for the valuables, they did not find anything. Mrs. Gupta fell to the ground, crying and telling Mr. Gupta they lost everything.
