Review

In this book, the author emphasizes that when leaders lead from within, they are more effective and impactful in their personal and professional lives.

The author crafted fifteen chapters taking insights from the Bhagavad Gita to cast leadership, its importance, challenges in leadership, and how leaders should look within to find the solutions and become a better version of themselves.

The best part about the book is the notes section after each chapter, where the readers can reflect on their learnings in each chapter. The book is a compilation of short chapters but impactful content. Initially, the readers may feel it is a quick read, but as you start reading, you will realize you need time to summarize your learning.

The author focuses on different aspects of leadership that people generally miss. These include finding the purpose of being a leader, looking into strengths and weaknesses, and many more.

In this book, the shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita deliver the leadership insights by Lord Krishna, who played a vital role as a leader in Mahabharata.

This book is not like a typical self-help book. But, the readers will find there are exercises and practices for them to begin or refresh their leadership journey.

Key Takeaways From the Book

1A leader is a role that comes with responsibility and accountability.

2. A leader is a role that comes with responsibility and accountability.

3. To lead is to travel through a path of following, learning, and attaining the best characteristics of a leader.

4. Without understanding how it feels to be a leader, one cannot find support to rely on for the long run.

5. A leader needs to identify her strengths and weaknesses.

6. The goal should be to empower others and not focus on the benefit of self.

One thing I wished in this book was to have shlokas in the original language instead of writing in English. It is a bit distracting to refer to the Bhagavad Gita to read the original shloka.

Overall, it is a highly recommended book for someone who wishes to know what leadership is about and how to lead by identifying one's strengths and weaknesses or realizing the power of being a leader rather than focusing on the typical leadership road.
