Review
The story is set in Mumbai, and the opening act is the mood-setter of the story that leads to everything that happens in the lives of both the protagonists and side characters, who eventually play a major role in keeping readers looking forward to reading the book. The plot begins with Ira confessing on the radio show, which was tuned in by Sahaj, leading to their meeting. From an abrupt meeting to spending time at each other's places, their lives changed from grieving for their loved ones they lost to Covid to a life full of all sorts of emotions they missed in their grief, making them rethink their choices and decisions. Moreover, it is a story that explores how familial bonds, marriage, loving someone, and passion about making a life as per your own choices are an integral part of the journey to live a fulfilling life.
The characters are relatable. Though Sahaj, the male protagonist, might give creepy vibes in the beginning, he turns out to be a lovable character who knows how to make things right and take matters into his hands. Ira and her friend Kritika are the women who inspire not just women but everyone on how they can follow their passion even with limited resources and enough effort from oneself using one's full potential. The kids in the story will send readers on a nostalgic ride. Their emotions and innocence are well portrayed in the book; readers would love to read about them and smile at their little gestures and their unbiased dialogues.
The author's writing style is simple and relatable. It will allow readers to read through the story. Two things might impact a few readers' experience like mine. The first one is the ending, though it is open-ended, it seems abrupt. And the other one is that the exploration of the lives of the protagonists could have been a little more. The side characters are descriptive and play important roles. The author maintained the emotions and depth of grievances pretty well throughout the story.
For readers who love to read contemporary and relatable romance, this book will be a good choice for them. It will allow readers to understand how human experiences like friendships, relationships, challenges of single parenting, family bonds, and taking due responsibility for their own tasks are crucial. It is a blend of themes with balanced humour, light-heartedness, and profound human connections.
