Review
The story revolves around Ramakrishna, a teacher who falls in love with her student and marries her even after considering societal stereotypes, but to their surprise, they do not face issues from society. Though the sequence of events that took place after their marriage ruined Ramakrishna's world. The plot line takes a turn from Ramakrishna's marriage to a different world, taking him to reflect on his past life, and bringing forth a truth that left him feeling disgusted about himself. What was the twist? No spoilers here.
The character Nazm depicts a strong woman who stood for what felt right to her, and Ramakrishna portrays a man who knew when to change his ways to set things right, Dr Sheila, a doctor to be precise a therapist whom every patient needs, and other side characters also appear relatable. What stood out about the character sketch was the depiction of a goldfish. It played a key role in illustrating familial bonds, the relationship between characters, and the circling back of the introduction of goldfish from one generation to another generation.
The author's writing style is engaging and illustrative. The murders as depicted in the story will make readers imagine the scene before their eyes. It will shake them while reading it. The uncovering of layers of different ways of violence was something that made the reading experience better. The author did not hesitate in showing the depth of the human psyche when it comes about taking revenge. Even if readers may be able to predict bits in the story, the author carefully placed the twists and turns in the story to keep them hooked till the end.
From prologue to epilogue, readers will experience a sequence of events and murders the way they would not unexpect. To readers looking for an intense and engaging psychological and crime thriller in one single book, pick this book now.
