"Mistakes are the best teacher," said a wise human someday. It became a mantra for everyone in life. From facing obstacles to getting misunderstood, Radhika had been through a hell lot in her life. So, whenever she would end up encountering a fall, she would start all over again reminding herself of how she could make the best use of the situation for her future.
Though her brother Sanchit was tired of her negligent behavior, he loved and cared for her and would do anything to protect her. Radhika did not know how he took care of the people who ever tried to come in her way or misbehave with her. She would face the trauma and walk over it. But Sanchit made sure the person suffered for his deeds and never let her know about it because he knew she would start her monologue of letting go and learning from mistakes.
One morning, Radhika woke up with a nightmare, soaked in sweat and gasping for air. Sanchit and Aruna, Radhika's mother, came to her after hearing her scream. Aruna hugged her tightly, trying to calm her. Sanchit ran to the kitchen to get a glass of water for her. Radhika gulped down water in one stretch as Sanchit handed her the glass. She was struggling to breathe and unable to speak. Her nightmare gripped her tongue, not letting her raise her voice. After sitting in her mother's embrace for half an hour, she finally felt better and put her head in her mother's lap and tried to sleep but she could not.
Sanchit was watching Radhika from the door and felt sorry for her condition. It was not the first time that she had this nightmare. He decided to look into her diary to find out what was bothering her. After Aruna left Radhika's room tugging her into bed, Sanchit went to Radhika's wardrobe and found the diary. He left the room silently and went to his room and locked it from inside. He ruffled through the pages and was shocked to find a terrible art piece with poetry bleeding with pain and trauma.
"Why did he do that to me?
I was merely a ten-year-old girl.
Happy, sassy, and enthusiastic,
Looking for ways to shine
Leaving behind the wrongs done,
And the doers for my peace.
He molested me behind the doors,
Taking away my smile and dignity
Which I tried to fake when I was out,
'Coz I knew my brother would
Turn him into ruins for what he did to me,
I brushed that off by pouring it here
To never unfold what conspired my
The attitude of letting go."
"Is she mad or what, why did she not tell me? I need to talk to her and find that guy. Only then her nightmares will end." Sanchit told himself and decided to check on Radhika once she got out of her room.
Radhika came out of her room at lunch. While she tried to behave normally, Sanchit's face showed her aggression and she understood there was something he had to say. She tried to avoid looking into his eyes. But his presence was so intimidating that she had to leave the dining table to avoid spilling the beans which she did not know he already knew about. She went to her room followed by Sanchit after a few minutes so that she could not stop him from entering her room.
As he reached her room, she was already on her bed with her food lying beside her. He knocked, making her shudder and bringing her out of her thoughts.
"Why did you not tell me that? You know how much you mean to us. It is wrong to hide the crime. You are equally a sinner." Sanchit started speaking without giving her a chance to run. She started sobbing, and told him, "I wanted to protect you. I knew you would ruin him, and he could create a problem for you." Sanchit guffawed and told her that he knew his limit. He would have handled it carefully.
Radhika did not say anything further and hugged Sanchit. She told him that she would never cover such mistakes no matter who did that.
