"Maa, what is with you? I am going to the hostel and not the other planet. Why are you packing so many things?" Vrinda complained. Her mother, Preeti, shushed her and told her that she knew better. Vrinda guffawed, and went to her dad, Tarun expressing her concern, "What is it with Indian moms? Why don't they understand their kids?" Tarun calmed her, "Kiddo, what happened, what is worrying you and making you go bonkers?" "I am not going bonkers, your wife is," she yelled. "Manners, Vrinda." Tarun chided.
Vrinda shrugged her shoulders and left the room. He went behind her, but she ran and went to her room, locking herself from inside. Preeti came out hearing the commotion and asked Tarun about the noises. "Nothing, dear. Our daughter is pissed because of you." Tarun laughed and Preeti stared at him, raising her eyebrows. He looked in a different direction.
"Vrinda, beta tumhe nahi pata hostel me acha khana nahi milega toh kya karogi? Baad me mujhe phone karke thank you bologi." Preeti tried to convince her. After much effort when Vrinda did not come out Preeti returned to packing. Tarun also went to watch television in the drawing room.
At 6 p.m., Vrinda came out and went to her mother. Preeti was still packing her stuff when Vrinda hugged her from behind apologizing for her behavior. "Maa, you know na how much I love your food. Whenever I see you packing all the snacks I feel like if they will get finished what will I do? Or if somebody snatched it from me what will I do? That is why I got irritated at that time. The thoughts are clouding my mind. How will I live without you?" Vrinda confessed. "What about me? Tarun said, pouting from the door, seeing the mother-daughter duo.
Vrinda dragged him inside the room and hugged both of them together. "I am gonna miss you both." Vrinda expressed. Tears rushed through their cheeks. Preeti composed herself and added, "Bas bas, let me finish the packing. We have to leave tomorrow morning. I don't want you to call me from the way telling me you forgot things." Tarun realized his wife was trying to be strong, but he knew how challenging it would be for him to handle her without Vrinda.
Finally, by 9 p.m., they sat at the dinner table to have dinner together before Vrinda moved out for a new beginning. As always Preeti served both of them and decided to eat later. But Vrinda held her hand and told her to sit. "I will serve you both today. After all, I have to learn to do tasks on my own. So, why not start from now?" Vrinda got up from her seat and announced. Preeti wiped a tear with the back of her hand, and Tarun puffed up his chest with pride.
It was a tiring day for all of them. Tarun and Vrinda crashed in bed after dinner, but Preeti could not sleep that night. She kept thinking about the packing and how the home would turn after Vrinda would leave the next day.
