Living in a city comes with a cost. The cost of self-loathing, adulthood, managing finances, feeling alone, and much more. Such was the state of Arohi. She chose to leave her house after Covid tended to live in a big city because she felt suffocated in a family of ten people living under one roof but no one cared about each other as family except at times of crisis.

Arohi was a passionate woman, born and brought up in a big fat joint family, which scattered with time for many reasons. It felt empty after one of her uncle's family left the house to start their life as a nuclear family. For a few years, she had an inkling to visit them and cherish the childhood days of living under the same roof. But as time progressed, the bitterness in relationships started showing up, leaving a deep wound, etched in her heart. She understood it was time to pursue her own family rather than finding distant relatives as her own.

When the Covid'19 hit, everyone got locked at home. It was the time, Arohi got closer to her mother and started caring for her. It lasted two years and she had to stay at home after having lived away from home for five years for study and college. It was challenging to stay at home with everyone around losing the sense of privacy which seemed invisible in a joint family. Arohi tried many new things in that time to keep her distracted and lift off the weight of living a life she never thought of, thanks to COVID-19.

From gardening to cooking, she tried everything along with her mother. Their bond strengthened, and Arohi realized how her mother knew the art of finding happiness in little things. She got inspired by her and decided to leave the house to start fresh as soon as COVID-19 ended.

By the end of 2022, Arohi was set to leave her home. She went to NCR to use her wings and fly high to fulfill her aspirations and live with freedom. Two years flew by, and she had to change the city, you know, job demands. From living alone, she decided to move to a shared flat hoping to learn some life lessons. And it happened on the first day when destiny threw a plate and flour that needed kneading. In twenty-six years of her life, she did that twice when she was thirteen years old.

Arohi looked at the flour and wondered if she would be able to do it. "How would I know without even trying?" She thought in mind. She got a glass filled with water and started kneading it, pouring water little by little to ensure she did not make a mess. "Yay, I did it." She shouted without realizing she was in the common area of the flat. Her flatmates emerged from their rooms and looked at her awkwardly concerned. She smiled and they returned to their rooms.

Months passed and Arohi started feeling lonely. She craved company, but her flat stood mad silent the whole day. She tried to make small talk with her flatmates but they did not appear interested. Arohi chose to find solace in doing what she loved. With time, she started finding happiness in pursuing her interests when she was at home, or she would socialize with her circles.

Understanding that she was enough for herself, and loving the way she was, Arohi sorted her life and enjoyed every bit of it even if she was alone.
