Blogchatter Half Marathon - Embracing Minimalism : Simplify Your Life
Do you have a cluttered wardrobe? Do you find it challenging to choose between your tasks or jobs? Do you invest considerable time in your social media?
Are you struggling with the questions similar to the ones mentioned above?
So, let me introduce the concept of embracing minimalism viz simplify your life.
Embracing minimalism is a lifestyle and mindset that requires simplifying different aspects of life, including professional, personal, social, and emotional.
In simple words, embracing minimalism means keeping necessary items and throwing away all the unwanted things, emotions, and desires.
Examples/Signs That Tells You Need to Simplify Your Life
In my day-to-day, I think about setting my wardrobe to see how many pairs of clothing I own or find if I have usable wear. But most of the time, I procrastinate. It impacts my time management skills. Induce stress and anxiety.
When I have to go out, I take a lot of time to decide what to wear, whether it fits or will look good. It is a traumatic situation and leaves me in stress. It makes me realize I do not have something suitable to wear. It is not a girl's problem. But it is a cluttered wardrobe.
I juggle between different chores every day and end up doing none. Often, I plan several tasks to complete in a timeframe that is beyond expectation. It leads to mess and stress.
Deciding to do this and that but not having a plan or a sequence to achieve. Also, prioritizing is missing in making a list of tasks to finish. Similarly, you can think of numerous examples where you will find yourself in the middle of scattered things, emotions, duties, and unnecessary clutter.
Ways to Embrace Minimalism
There are various ways to streamline your life. Mess is a part of my life every day because simplifying is a daily process, so I wrote this blog to share what helped me achieve minimalism.
Streamline Your Wardrobe
The first step to simplifying your life is to dig your wardrobe for all the unnecessary stuff. Do get rid of that old top that does not fit you. It will be out of fashion when you will become suitable for it.
You can connect with it by seeing your almirah full of clothes that are unfit for you. I did have pairs of jeans that were low-waisted. Who even wears a low waist these days? I wondered several times if somebody would wear it. I can keep giving. But realizing it will be of no use. I offered them to someone who could utilize them to make something else.
Once you streamline your wardrobe, you will find fewer clothes, giving another reason for happiness, viz., to shop for new ones. Hold on, do not add more than required, and add another pile of clutter.
Declutter What You Know Lies Unused For a Long Time
Do you remember that packet of oats lying on your shelf for a long time? Do check its expiry date. I bet it would have expired when you get hold of it. Or similar packaged food you lost on your shelves long ago lying lapsed there.
There can be many things in your surroundings, be it your room, home, terrace, or backyard. You can think of tin boxes, cartons, or plastic bags in your backyard, seeking your attention to remove them from your house. Similarly, you look around, and you will find several items that require you to get out of your surroundings.
Clear Mental Chaos
Your mind is full of chaos. All the thoughts you have in it require you to process. There are several ways to clear mental clutter. You can pick the one that aligns with your liking.
You can practice meditation and mindfulness. Clear of the negative thoughts making you stressed and worried. If your mind is fit, you will stay happy and healthy.
Practice Separation
I understand it is challenging to change your old toothbrush or old towel. I am one of those who would keep using the same towel for years until getting forced by the mother to change it, or she throws it away.
There is no virtue in life that is challenging until you make it. Practice separation and let unnecessary things, people, and emotions get out of your life. Always remember you are not someone that you own. Be a person of belief and not a clutter of things and negativity.
Set Clear Goals
I always remember one thing in life, viz., priority. It is necessary to prioritize your life in every walk, including social, emotional, professional, and personal.
If you learn to prioritize, you will embrace minimalism momentarily. Remember how you feel when you have multiple thoughts, goals, and tasks in your mind? I bet you feel disastrous. It is what can hamper your thought process and progress. So, start today and simplify your life by prioritizing your life in every aspect.
Conclusion
Embracing minimalism does not appear easy. But once you realize self-worth and the value of living a simple life, I am sure you will be able to do it.
The ways I mentioned above may be relatable or may not be, so without stress, define your own. You will discover the beauty of minimalism.
"Own what you require, leave what is excessive, and embrace the beauty of what belongs to you."
