Book Review : The Unspoken Emotions

The Unspoken Emotions by Riya Ramudamu is a collection of 15 poems with a few quotes in between that keep you attached with the verses. She has weaved each poem with emotions be it joy, pain, struggle or longing.

Life is full of drama, chaos, happiness, excitement, sorrow, disappointment, and other diverse emotions. Any emotion at its extreme can lead someone to dysfunction, overthink, stress out etc. The very same emotions can at times induce or give birth to a creative process; music, painting, drama, writing and many more. In my case, it happened to be writing.

It won't be wrong to say that I didn't choose writing. I never planned on writing anything, or never thought I would ever publish a book. On the contrary it was writing that chose me.
Each poem of mine were free-flowing thoughts that somehow caused upheaval in my mind, and found their way out in the form of writing.

The poems are filled with emotions and every reader can associate and connect with them. In an era where people barely get time to take care of their emotions and mental health, I believe writing and reading are some of the best ways to encourage oneself. I believe every reader will take pleasure in reading them as much as I cherished writing them.

My Thoughts on the Book

  • It is a short book with 15 poems yet impactful and binding the readers. The language is simple and easy to decipher. The poems consist of a variety of emotions, from joyful to being anxious.

  • The book will help you lift up from a struggling phase in your life.

  • The book reminds that everybody is struggling in some or other way, you are not alone in this journey.

  • It is a collection of raw, honest and yet powerful verses that resonate with the message of healing and transformation.

  • The best thing about the book is to compile the poems with quotes in between. The quotes will keep you sane throughout your reading journey.

  • Though each poem has its own beauty and meaning yet I preferably liked Good Old Days, Whimsical Weekend, Only If You Could (it is the one that made me read it several times as if my energy resonates and relates with it and understand how it feels to be in this situation).

  • Another thing that caught my attention was the first and the last poem in the book, A Yearn for Rest and Yearning You.This book has a symmetry.

I highly recommend this book to you if you are struggling with emotional imbalance and need some impactful reading to heal and know everything happens for a reason and you are not alone in this battle of yours.
