Book Review : The Mango Raid

The Mango Raid by Viraj Govind Mahatame is a children’s book full of humor and adventure.

It is a heart-warming story of a trio, the boys gang who are always seen together playing, running around, or on a mission.

The author has written this book in a simple language with a glimpse of South Indian culture depicting South Indian families adding a taste of their savory dishes and snacks. In this book, the trio is on a mission to raid a neighbor’s mango tree because Venki (a boy from trio) thinks those are the sweetest mangoes.

I loved and enjoyed this very much and finished it in one go as it left me laughing and rolling on bed. I remember one incident where I laughed out loud, when Srini shared his experience while trekking on the narrow track where a monkey tried to bite him when he refused to share the apple. It is sweet and humorous, and I loved it. Only kids can dare to challenge naughty monkeys and the author did not miss to bring that point in this book.

I could connect with them as I used to raid mulberry shrubs in the third street behind my house climbing the wall. Common on, all of us might have done something like this. So, it took me back to my childhood.

To know what happened at the end, dive into the book, you will love it too.

This book is a pack of humor and adventure. I liked the way you leave a message in every book of yours like in this book, the message is to ask for something you wish to have instead of stealing it. As sometimes, we see beyond reality and end up getting caught realizing we over thought about the person, situation or event.

Though it is a children’s book, but it will leave adults too rolling with laughter. If you are looking for a gift for kids it is a perfect gift for them or you can read it to your kids in bedtime to entertain them and teach them the lesson of asking for something you want.
