Book Review : Man Without Women

Men Without Women by Haruki Murakami
, is another a collection of seven stories rather than a story book. It talks about how men feels loneliness, deprived of love, and cheated.

There are seven stories with abrupt beginning and ending. When I started reading, I was feeling the women are picturized untrustworthy in it, though later realizing a different aspect of men being incomplete without women. The stories that touched and left long lasting impact were the one where Kafuku (an actor) hired a female driver Misaki as his sight was diminishing due to driving, second where Scheherazade would fulfill the life of a man (Habara) with love making and her own crafted stories which she would leave in between everytime clock struck 4:30 pm to leave for dinner preparation, and then the third comes another story where Kino left her wife with her boyfriend and moved to open bar where he could not stay for long and had to move to places unknown in life.

Murakami has its own way of writing these fiction books with different stories in it. I could not get out of this book till I read the last page. Still feeling there is something left in one or other chapters that needed to be there but that was it. No matter which story you start first or last you will see the stories do not have any perfect ending and will leave you to ponder on them.
