Review
"The plot takes place during four white nights, a natural phenomenon in which the sun does not seem to go down completely so that darkness never really comes."
It is a unique premise where the narrator is walking through the story. The narration is a dream-like journey of the narrator who is more a dreamer, yearning to end his loneliness. The plot twist will leave readers gripped in the book when the narrator meets the main female character of the story leading to an unexpected adventure and havoc in the life of the narrator.
There are few characters in this short read, but the author took care of sketching them with precise features and importance in the story. The narrator reflects the women striving to find themselves in the chaos and restrictions of society, the male main character pictures a man who after multiple trials fell in love with a woman whom he saw as someone who cared for him more than anything.
Readers would find this book emotionally resonant and leave them with a warm hug yet a sad reality of human behavior. The author's writing style is evocative and gripping, leading readers to finish this book in one go. Readers would keep guessing but the final twist would leave them aghast wondering why the story ended this way when everything could turn out like a fairytale.
While reading the book, readers would wonder about the love story of the narrator and the female character. It appears pleasing and soothing until the author adds a stroke of the plot twist in the picture. The beauty of this book is in the blend of romance and realism. At times, the narration feels like poetry being painted with the words of the narrator.
The overall experience of reading this book is delightful and satisfying even after failure to guess the plot, readers would be happy with the ending of the story yet it might sadden few seeing the narrator getting deceived. It is a much-recommended book for someone who is in a reading slump, I am sure it will encourage you to explore more books.
