Blogchatter Food Fest : If All The Food Vanishes From This World
Tanya woke up chirpy and excited because it was her birthday. She planned for days to celebrate this day with pomp and show. When she climbed down the stairs to find her mother, she noticed her mother was sitting while resting her head on her palm in the dining area. Also, her father, who would immerse in reading the newspaper at that hour, appeared worried that day. Tanya felt annoyed and irritated as her parents neither wished nor noticed her.
She ran to her mother first and shook her, but it appeared her mother was in a trance. Tanya kept yelling Mumma, Mumma but there was no response. She then went to her father but received no response from him as well. Feeling hungry, she rushed into the kitchen, hoping to find her favorite dishes cooked by her mother. But to her surprise, there was no dish in the kitchen. She explored the fridge but did not find even fruits or last night's food.
While checking through the drawers, Tanya thought to find at least noodles so that she could cook, but she found none. It worried her as she already invited her friends for a grand celebration and her parents did not respond. She wondered how she could arrange food and cake for her friends and party. But there was no sign of any help. Feeling helpless, she started crying, but realizing she had no one to calm her, she wiped her tears and went to the market to prepare for her birthday. After all, she can manage things by herself.
As she stepped out to the market, she noticed closed shops and few to no people on the way. She did not realize while walking, she had reached the mall. Tanya thought she would find something to eat there. But as she went inside, she saw the board, "We are closed," outside every restaurant and cafe. She started throwing things when a guard came to stop her asking her to leave.
Back home, she met her friends. Even after finding nothing for a birthday celebration, she exaggerated before them that she would host a grand party and they all should come in the evening on time. They all felt elated and agreed to go to the party. When Tanya reached home, she found her mother and father in the same state as she left them before stepping out. She ran to her room and started crying.
Before she could do anything further, her mother tried to wake her up. Tanya did not open her eyes and kept saying Mumma, there is no food, how would we celebrate my birthday, my friends would laugh at me. Her mother jolted her and told her she was dreaming. A little afraid, she opened one eye and touched her mother to see if she was responding. She jumped out of bed and hugged her mother telling her about her dream.
I enjoyed the story. A world without food would indeed be a desperate situation.
