Blogchatter A2Z: Juvenile Delinquency

The students started coming to school at 7 a.m., chit chatting with their friends. The silent corridors turned noisy with the kid's laughter and cries of kindergarten students. Teachers on duty came to the school gate to ensure parents did not enter the school premises as it would make it difficult for small children to get separated. Everything looked so perfect at that moment.

Soon, Rehaan, a 12th-standard rich brat, entered with his gang. The teachers know him for mischief, and he was on the administrator's radar. One mistake and Rehaan was going to get rusticated. He greeted teachers and continued towards his class. The two teachers started discussing him and wondering what would be his plan for today. They felt pity for themselves to bear him. Their discussion cut in when the principal entered through the gate, and they got busy exchanging greetings.

The morning assembly bell rang, and the teachers asked the peon to close the gate and make latecomers wait outside. The assembly went smoothly, concluding with the principal's speech, highlighting the mischievous activities that prevailed after school. She warned the culprits about getting severe punishment if they got caught. Rehaan was standing behind in the queue of his class. He knew to whom the principal was redirecting but remained silent and chuckled. The students went to their classroom when the assembly was dismissed.

In Rehaan's class, there was a girl named Ruhi. She belonged to a mediocre family. She was the topper of the class. Rehaan and his group often run into her, teasing her for being a teacher's pet. She would ignore him most of the time. One day, Rehaan crossed the line, grabbing her to take her into a corner, and threatened that if she informed the teacher about the last day's activity she witnessed, he would do the same with her.

Ruhi got frightened and told him she would not tell anyone about what she saw. She ran hysterically, getting out of his grip. While running, tears flowed through her eyes, and she bumped into her class teacher. Rehaan watched from behind and whispered, "Shit! Now, the teacher will ask, and she will speak the truth." Rehaan hid behind the wall and saw them talking.

The teacher asked Ruhi if she was alright, and Ruhi informed her she was fine and left in a rush. It left the teacher in doubt. She noticed Rehaan hiding behind the wall and assumed Ruhi's state was because of him. The teacher acted as if she did not see Rehaan and resumed work.

After school, when everybody left, the teacher got hold of Ruhi while packing her bag. She asked her to follow her in the staff room. Ruhi understood that the teacher might ask about my behavior in the morning. She worried and thought of a story to narrate rather than the truth. The teacher made her comfortable and told her not to feel afraid of anything and speak the truth.

Ruhi started sobbing and narrated what she saw after school the previous day.

Ruhi: "Ma'am, yesterday, while returning home, I saw Rehaan and his gang involved in eve-teasing on the lane behind the school. There were five people on two bikes. As soon as any girl passed by, they would throw derogatory comments. I also saw Rehaan forcing a girl to kiss on his lips. Even after multiple trials to get out of his grip, she had to kiss him, and he also tore off his top from her shoulder top."

It left the teacher in surprise. She scolded Ruhi for hiding the incident, as it would ruin somebody's life because of Rehaan's absurdity. The teacher also told Ruhi that the management had a hint of such activities occurring after school, but they could not figure it out. But now that she knows it, she would ask management to take action. Ruhi pleaded with the teacher not to bring it forward, as Rehaan would do the same with her. She cried, but the teacher assured her it would not affect her as she would unfold Rehaan's conduct such that he would admit his mistake.

Ruhi left for home. The teacher conducted an emergency meeting with management and told about the incident. In the meeting, they decided to face Rehaan at the incident spot and catch him red-handed. As per Ruhi, she noticed Rehaan and his friends at 4 p.m., and it was still one hour to 4 p.m. The management chose Rehaan's class teacher and a male teacher to catch Rehaan.

As per the plan, they went to the spot. And as expected, Rehaan and his gang were still there. They saw Rehaan trying to grab a girl by her hand, who tried hard to get out of his grip. Before Rehaan knew it, his friends on the other bike ran away, seeing their teachers. The teachers walked towards him, and the male teacher tapped on his shoulder, but Rehaan threw his hand, thinking he was one of his friends. But the teacher put his hand again, jolting Rehaan this time. His class teacher embraced the girl and caressed her. She told her to be the witness. The girl agreed.

Rehaan tried to plead with his teachers, but they did not listen and told him he committed a crime. They took him to school and made him face the management. He stood with his head down, embarrassed. The management called his parents immediately. As his parents arrived, they got worried. They felt ashamed after hearing what their son did. Rehaan's mother slapped him in front of everyone. He fell to the ground. It left the school staff in astonishment.

The management told his parents that they would require to rusticate him from the school. Since he was a minor, they could not report it to the police. But to keep their school's environment reputable, Rehaan had to leave. His parents requested the management to allow Rehaan as it was his board, but they did not accept their request.

Rehaan left with his parents for home.

  1. I'm glad Ruhi gathered the courage to confess about the incident. Such behaviour has to stop or its boys like Rehaan who grow up to terrible partners and husbands.

    1. Yes, most of these issues start at school or college level.
