JingleBellBlogHop: True Love or Teenage Infatuation
On New Year's Eve, Ahana captivated Abhir from afar in her emerald green shimmering dress. She walked like an angel on the red carpet. Ahana noticed Abhir open-mouthed and rushed towards him to make him realize their parents were around. Abhir took Ahana's side and expressed how she felt when he first saw her in that dress. She was blushing and smiling without a word. Ahana put her finger on Abhir's lips, seeing him speaking breathlessly. He pulled her close enough that their lips almost touched, but they parted ways, acknowledging the people in the party. Soon, they joined their parents, who were having a merry time. But Ahana found another family with their parents, who came with their daughter Saina to the party. She never saw that girl before. There was an impression of envy in her mind as Abhir's mother kept pushing Saina near Abhir, and she noticed him blushing. Ahana rushed to grab some water with teary eyes, and Abhir saw her but did not follow her. Ahana felt left out in the party, seeing her parents also involved with Abhir's family and their friends. She left the party and went home alone. Nobody realized until it was time to welcome another year. Her parents searched for her in every corner at the party. There was no clue of her. Her parents rushed home to check if she was there as they got worried about where she could go at that hour of the night on New Year's when drunk and mischievous people came out on the roads. Ahana rushed to her room, putting the latch, and cried her heart out until her parents found her locked in her room. They panicked, but she handled them by telling them she was feeling sleepy, so she came back. She wished them a Happy New Year and asked them to let her sleep from inside. Her parents were clueless, so they returned to the party, as they left abruptly, leaving a tense environment in the party. Abhir worriedly asked them about her, but they calmed him that she was sleeping. Abhir knew something was wrong and thought to meet her the next day. But Ahana refused to meet him, telling her parents to inform him that she was busy preparing for her pre-boards scheduled after winter vacations. Things did not turn up as expected. There was a misunderstanding, and they lost touch. Ahana did not accept why Abhir would do that to her. Little did she know that was a mere exchange of shying before a girl that Abhir had. The best night of their lives became a nightmare. Abhir tried to talk to her to clear her misunderstanding, but Ahana would not listen to his explanations. Though Ahana herself chose not to cross paths with Abhir, and he accepted his fate with her. The endless possibilities and guesses came into Ahana's mind, but they did not meet each other after New Year's Eve. She would miss him but never tried to reach him out. Was it her ego or acceptance that the other girl was his parent's choice and she should not come in between? She saw Abhir at the exam center, but she would change her path, and he would not bother her as that could ruin her exam. Even after being mistreated, he would think about her. Abhir always wanted to clear the misunderstanding and tried to send her letters and messages through mutual friends, but she would always tear them apart without reading them. Even after years of completing their Secondary education, Ahana used to think, was it true love or teenage infatuation? Will they ever come together?

Puppy love?
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, budding love I should say
Delete"She realized things would not change by spoiling her peace, and she had to accept where she belonged." and in that she took her first step to adulthood
ReplyDeleteLovely story, Tanvi
Thank you Manali, I am happy that you shared your conclusion on the story.
DeleteTrue love is enduring they say, so I guess this one sure wasn't. Sometimes sharing things or doing together makes us feel as if we are close. Nice one, Tanvi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback and sharing is caring it can lead to love I feel
DeleteFriendship is the first step towards love, it is said. However, Ahana and Abhir kept missing the bus, and maybe, fate decided that they were not meant to be together? An interesting story, Tanvi!
ReplyDeleteAlways said misundertstanding kills beautiful relations and here is is justified.
DeleteThe initial struggle to adapt to a new school after being proud of her old one is relatable. The resentment towards her dad adds a layer of conflict and reflects the challenges of adjusting to new environments which is kind of relatable to me. The reflection on whether the connection between Abhir and Ahana ,is true love or teenage infatuation adds depth to the narrative. It introduces a theme of self-discovery and raises questions about the nature of relationships formed during adolescence. The mix of emotions and the open-ended nature of the story has given room for our own interpretation.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the story leads to the heart creating space for more interpretations
DeleteComplicated emotions expressed with simplicity! Thar tender age makes us feel everything to be taken at heart, so immature yet a valid feeling that it!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, often immaturity leads to misunderstanding
DeleteGood god! I waited eagerly for them to overcome this hiccup but alas. Maybe this leaves space for a second chance romance story?
ReplyDeleteHaunted by a New Year's misunderstanding, Ahana and Abhir's once inseparable bond unravelled. Time held the answer to whether their paths would converge again or if they were destined to remain parallel lines, lost in the echoes of teenage infatuation...... now this is how I envisage the future for Ahana and Abhir. I would like them to explore their ownself first and then decide if they will be happy together and grow together. Teenage is too young an age to decide on companionship. Togetherness is nothing but respecting the differences and still growing together happily. :)
ReplyDeleteAhna may be accepted what she noticed at party. Teenage is always confusing. She didn't want to understand or she wants to let it happens. Misunderstanding destroyed the beautiful realtionship.
ReplyDeleteNot all love stories go the distance. I quite liked where this ended. The possibility is what kept me hooked :)
ReplyDeleteComplicating simple things due to lack of understanding is what teenage life is all about. A good attempt at showing young love.- Anuradha Shetty
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have logged into my google account but still the name is showing as Weka.. I donot know what's wrong with my settings.
Well crafted the teenage love. Loved this entire story. Beautifully expressed the love story.
ReplyDeleteThis usually happens in reality where a misunderstanding leads to certain dead ends in relationships and we all have experienced it in some form in life. I so wished that Ahana and Abhir inked their forever love story... but who knows they might
ReplyDeleteA heartbreaking tale of misunderstanding and ego taking centrestage. I wish Ahana had given Abhir a chance or had read his messages or letters, who knows it would have been the beginning of their forever???
ReplyDeleteThe impatience of teenagers. I remember those days; I regret some of them.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good read.
